Some news regarding the upcoming plugins support in Google Chrome, from the author of GreaseMonkey who is part of the Chrome dev team. plugins-talk/chrome-plugins-and-scripts-coming-soon-t189.html

an obvious place to start would be the FIREFOX plugins top downloads and select the best individual plugins for every category.

for my money, I can't live without any of:

* CoolIris -- or at least some other image/video viewer to make ugly webpages much sexier (this maybe not for all the cardigan-wearing-types, but it is very popular) -- it is on every other major browser, so I think it's time the developers look at Google Chrome, or someone borrows the format.
* Sxipper -- or a similar webform/password filler -- the web is sooo full of form-filling crap these days, it's just intolerable without some help, especially if like me you use a large number of different websites (there are those who use only a handful of sites, this isn't for you).
* localised browser dictionary -- to highlight misspelt words in your local language (everyone should really have this as a way to improve degenerating language standards, but also a handy check for unusual/difficult words and late-night blogging sessions ;)

* Flash and AdBlock are good, worthwhile additions too, along with flexible controls on JavaScript/Java including whitelisting.

Nice list, and I agree that many would be helpful. The ones I consider ESSENTIAL would make a much smaller list:
noscripts
lastpass
foxmarks
The first two for both convenience and security, lastpass and foxmarks for mobility.
Though I find them useful, I can live and work without the others. These, or ones with like functionality, are the ones that make or break my decision to move to Chrome.

Mind you, if my only other choice were MS-IE, the decision would be more heavily weighted towards Chrome.

Tho I already left Firefox, I still have important requests that would go as:
    Fast Dial (Please!)
and definitely a Gmail mail notifier, preferably opening your account in a new tab when clicked
also the same for Yahoo mail

About the fast dial: I don't think they need to change the whole blank page system with their regulars on it like history search, recent bookmarks and recently closed tabs all of which I personally like; I just think the 9 windows there should go up to 12 and should be editable for our own preferred sites.

And since gMote takes care of the mouse gestures quiet fine (although it would be cool to have it coded inside the program, which then, would make Chrome absolutely the best browser available), these pretty much covers it for me. Go Chrome! :)

I won't leave firefox 2 until I have:
1. Google Browser sync or related (for free)
2. Features similar to the Mozdev googlebar with its image search, dictionary search, and video search buttons as well as it's ability to highlight search words in the document.

Thanks for listenting

My Top 10 Favourites would have to be:
1. Adblock Plus
2. WebMail Notifier (Not the Gmail one, the hotmail, yahoo and gmail all in one thingymabob)
3. All in one Sidebar
4. DownloadThemAll!
5. ColourfulTabs
6. FlagFox
7. User Agent Switcher
8. Better Gmail 2
9. AVG Safe Search
10.CustomizeGoogle

I don't know if this has been said or not, but It would be nice to have a plug in that allows us to listen to MP3's that are embedded in websites.
